Whether you are contemplating the furnishing of a entire household or just the replacement of a few pieces, the personal property auction is the most cost effective way to obtain what you need or want. Auctions can provide you with quality, gently used furniture for any room in your home, usually for far less than you would pay at a retail furniture store or even a "discount" furniture store. The types of furniture available at auction can range from antiques to contemporary. You may not find exactly what you are looking for on your first try, but be patient you will. In addition to furniture, there are the finishing touches such as artwork, lamps, and many decorative items available at a public auction. Also available at the auction are the items needed to make your home functional such as china, glassware, small appliances, utensils, linens - the list goes on and on. You may ask - Where does it come from? The answer is very simple. The auctioneer is usually acting as the agent for one of several sources of the available merchandise. The most prominent are individuals who need to settle an estate or those who are downsizing and moving to smaller residences. There are, of course, some drawbacks to purchasing at auction. Auctions are conducted in a set order and you may have to wait for the auctioneer to get to the exact item or items you wish to purchase. There is no "free" delivery and "set up" of your purchases. However, the drawbacks are minor when you consider the savings and excitement of obtaining the "bargains" available at public auction. So, whether you are looking for a house full of furniture, one room, one piece, or the accessories, the public auction is your place to shop.
